Nottingham Forest and Senegal midfielder Cheikhou KouyatĂ© has missed training ahead of his country’s World Cup last 16 clash against England on Sunday. KouyatĂ© was one of three players to miss Senegal training on Thursday, with the midfielder having picked up an injury in their opening group game against the Netherlands on November 21. He was stretchered off during the game with what appeared to be a serious ankle injury following a tackle from Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong. It is something of a worry that he is still missing from training, though Nottingham Forest will be hoping it is not…
The 27-year-old was stretchered off in the second-half of Sunday’s Ligue 1 outing at Stade Raymond-Kopa Angers manager Stephane Moulin said Sofiane Boufal might have suffered a muscle strain or a tear in his thigh after he was stretchered off in their 2-0 win over Lorient. Boufal could only play 55 minutes of football before he broke down on the field with an injury at the Stade Raymond-Kopa. Shortly after the Morocco international was taken off on a stretcher, Cameroon-born Ibrahim Amadou also picked up an injury and he was taken off immediately While assessing the duoâs injuries, Moulin described…
Having fallen behind to Brighton and Hove Albion early in the first half of Sunday afternoonâs Premier League encounter at the Amex Stadium, after watching defender Tino Livramento suffer a bad injury, Southampton will be wondering if their afternoon could get any worse. As the game was approaching the mid-way point, the talented full-back was spotted going down, seemingly twisting his knee in the process. Although there appeared to be no serious contact, the nature of the injury was serious, and teammate Nathan Tella clearly reacted to it. Livaremento is seen walking away with his head in his hands, indicating…
Liverpool had become famous for a certain âMoneyballâ transfer trick, but Southampton is providing the latest evidence of diminishing returns on the strategy. When FSG arrived at Liverpool, the word on everyoneâs lips was âMoneyballâ. That interest was supercharged shortly afterwards by the 2011 film of the same name, with fans fascinated to see how John Henryâs data-driven vision would translate over to the football transfer market. Henry is briefly depicted in the film, trying to lure data visionary Billy Beane from the Oakland Aâs to join the Boston Red Sox. That proved unsuccessful, but the FSG chief would go…
CINCINNATI (WXIX/ASSOCIATED PRESS) – Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion after being slammed to the ground Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was taken by stretcher from the field to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The team later tweeted he was conscious and had movement in all his extremities. He was released late Thursday night and flew back with the team to Miami. Sources also told ESPNÂ he was in âgood spiritsâ and that initial tests showed no structural damage. Tagovailoa had a headache Thursday night and Friday morning, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said. The team was…
The NFL and NFLPA have released their findings from the investigation of the Miami Dolphinsâ concussion protocol for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Ultimately, the report stated that the NFL found âno violations of the protocolâ, but also says the âNFL and NFLPA agree that the outcome in this case is not what was intended when the protocols were drafted.â Directly after the incident, the NFL and NFLPAâs position indicated a mishandling of the situation from either the NFLâs unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant (now fired), or the Dolphinsâs medical staff. More specifically, the NFL believed there to be a failure in following the application…
After Tua Tagovailoa was hospitalized with head and neck injuries on Thursday, there was lots of public backlash against the Miami Dolphins and the NFL. The criticism stems from the fact that Thursday night was not Tagovailoa’s first scary moment this week – on Sunday, he wobbled to the floor after walking off a hit that saw his head violently hit the turf. Many speculated that injury to be a concussion, but Tagovailoa said he actually hyperextended his back, leading to the fall to the turf. However, Thursday’s injury led many to believe he had lingering concussion effects that were made worse. But head…
Thankfully, it looks like Tua Tagovailoa will be OK after his scary injury in the first half of Bengals vs. Dolphins. During the 4th quarter of this game, sideline reporter Kelly Hartung reported that Tua was expected to be discharged from the hospital he was transported to and then travel with his Dolphins teammates back to Miami. Obviously, thereâs going to be a lot of focus on how the Dolphins handled Tuaâs injuries over the last week, but for now, the most important news is that Tua is OK and should be back with his teammates very soon. One of the NFLâs biggest…
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is âin good spiritsâ Friday after receiving a concussion during Thursday nightâs game, head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters. The NFL and Dolphins are under scrutiny for the decision to allow Tagovailoa to play Thursday, after the quarterback was injured in a game just last Sunday. McDaniel said his focus right now is on Tagovailoaâs health, and that he is not thinking about a timetable for his return to the field. The NFL is reviewing the decision to clear Tagovailoa for play, and will be âspeaking with everyone involved,â its chief medical doctor told CNN Friday. âAny time…
