Ex-World Snooker Tour (WST) chairman Barry Hearn has insisted that he would not have brought in the new minimum guaranteed salary for lower-ranked players in the sport. All 130 players on the tour have been promised at least £20,000 for the 2022/23 season in a trial that amounted to a £2.6million cash injection. Ken, a popular player and coach, died on Tuesday, October 11, at the age of 78, from an apparent heart attack. An inquest into the death of an ice hockey player, who died at the Sheffield Arena last weekend, has opened today. Nottingham Panthers player Adam Johnson passed away after an incident on the ice against the Sheffield Steelers on Saturday night. A coroner has offered her “sincere condolences” to his family and friends. The 29-year-old American was playing for the Panthers against Sheffield Steelers on Saturday when he was seriously injured.
