The question is whether Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase can legitimately claim to be the NFL’s best wide receiver.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, considered one of the top five players in his position, believes he is the top of the mountain. When asked about the two best WRs in the NFL, Chase said he and Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson are the best, but the second-best is for everyone else to debate. He believes he is the best in his position.
Miami’s Tyreek Hill is a contender for the best receiver in the league, but both Jefferson and Chase are considered the best. Jefferson has played in 14 more games, but has a slight edge over Chase in yards per reception, receptions per game, receiving yards per game, yards per route run, passer rating when targeted, catch percentage, and yards per target.
Jefferson, a fourth-year wideout, has a significant lead over Chase in 100-yard games and contested-catch percentage. However, Chase has some categories where he outperforms Jefferson, such as touchdowns, multi-touchdown games, yards after the catch per reception, missed tackles forced, and 200-yard games. Despite Chase’s high self-esteem, the numbers seem to favor Jefferson in this debate. The Bengals play the Vikings on Saturday, and the two star WRs may settle the debate on the field.
