Maddson’s rage
James Maddison expressed his annoyance with VAR during Friday’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace for Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou’s team put on a confident second half effort led by the England star, but things could have been very different at the end.
Jordan Ayew’s goal in the 93rd minute looked to be the catalyst for an exciting finish, and Spurs were left sweating about the outcome. Though the Eagles striker almost controlled the ball with his arm, the goal was again hotly contested by commentators and fans.
Throughout the game, Maddison was among several players who appeared irate.

The Urguay midfielder was a surprise substitute named by Ange Postecoglou against Crystal Palace and was deemed fit enough to come on with his team 2-0 up at Selhurst Park. His captain, seeing the struggles he has been through in the past year, couldn’t contain his happiness.
“It made me smile. What an unbelievable player. Having him in our squad is like a new signing,” the 31-year-old said. “We couldn’t wait to have him back and when he came on today I was getting emotional because he’s a good friend of mine and enjoy every single moment, even last year when I suffered with the injury as he was always pushing behind me.
“I’m just really grateful that he came back healthy and hope he doesn’t get injured anymore so that he can stay fit and help the team. It’s a massive boost for the team and I’m very, very happy to have him back.”

After getting on the end of a slick move between Maddison and Johnson, Son decided against running off to celebrate in front of the travelling fans, instead turning to his teammate.
