Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan has shared his mental health struggles in a new Amazon Prime documentary, ‘Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything’, stating that playing kids snooker would “will kill me.”
Ronnie Sullivan, the father of the Rocket, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1992 for the murder of Bruce Bryan, a driver for Charlie Kray, and spent 18 years in prison before his release in 2010. His World Snooker triumph had 600 convicts celebrating his victory.
Ronnie Sr, a snooker player, had to follow his son’s early Crucible successes from behind bars. He arranged for a nearby prisoner to send him coded messages during the 2004 final against Graeme Dott. Ronnie Sr turned his fellow prisoners into Rocket fans, and there were extraordinary scenes as Ronnie Jr defeated Dotts 18-8 to win his second World title. In the upcoming film, Ronnie Sr: The Edge of Everything, he explained that he had to go to Radio 5 Live every hour to stay updated on his son’s performance. He had to tap twice when his son gets in the balls and once when he’s not.
