Son Heung-min could be out for the rest of the “SEASON” Due to a broken arm suffered
Son Heung-min, a South Korean player who recently scored goals for his nation, has assured Tottenham fans that he is “fine” after an injury scare.
In a World Cup qualifying match, South Korea defeated Singapore 5-0 in the Seoul World Cup Stadium. The captain of the Spurs scored the third goal of the game with a signature curling finish, cutting inside and placing a left-footed shot into the upper left corner of the net. But Son also went down in the second half on a chilly Seoul evening. He appeared to be in some difficulty as he received treatment and hobbled to the side of the field while clutching his right ankle.
The 31-year-old got back on the pitch though and played the full 90 minutes and after the game jogged around the turf waving at the 64,381 fans inside the stadium.
Son played down any fears about his fitness after the match when speaking to the media.
“I am fine now, I don’t like to lie down for a long time [on the pitch]. At that moment [I went down] I couldn’t feel anything on my foot,” he is reported as saying by South Korean journalist Sungmo Lee. “It’s not only me, all players have small injuries but still play for the team.”
He added: “We are making a team for the World Cup, I can’t give up a game just because I feel pain. If I can’t run any more, then I can’t do anything about it but when I can run, I have to give 100 per cent for the team.
South Korea now travel to face China on Tuesday in their next World Cup qualifying match. Spurs will want their skipper to return after that in a good condition as with eight goals in 12 Premier League matches Son has become the central attacking force inΒ Ange Postecoglou’s system.
Tottenham return to action on November 26 with a home game against Aston Villa, looking to put back-to-back defeats – their first in the Premier League under the Australian – behind them.
