As they prepare for life without Olivier Giroud, AC Milan is thinking about making a bid for Ollie Watkins, a striker for Aston Villa.
According to Spazio Milan, talks to sign the Aston Villa striker are still in their “embryonic stage” but the notion is still there.
As they prepare for life without Giroud, who is now a seasoned veteran and won’t last forever, they explain that Milan are keeping an eye on other profiles.
Watkins’ name has been on their list of potential replacements for the Frenchman as they consider numerous alternatives.
He ‘arouses the imagination’ of Milan, who are prepared to begin the initial ‘dialogues’ in an effort to ‘land the blow’ and bring the striker in from Villa Park.
At least for CEO Giorgio Furlani, who’seems to have decided’ on Watkins, he is unquestionably one of the team’s’main transfer goals’. He feels ‘bewitched’ by the Aston Villa striker and is prepared to leave if the proper situation arises.
Given that Watkins has been well under Unai Emery, it would appear that Aston Villa would be reluctant to sell. However, some sources claim that the striker might be available for a price of €30–35 million, which feels on the low side.
He becomes a “interesting target” for Milan as a result, however they will need to be “very convincing” to convince him to leave Villa Park.
The ’embryonic stage’ of negotiations, probably including middlemen, is still ongoing, but it appears Milan are seriously interested in signing him, so it’s a situation to watch out for.
