When the January transfer window opens, Barnsley will have a tough time keeping hold of standout striker Devante Cole, according to TEAMtalk.
Cole, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign, has eight goals in seven league games and now leads League One in scoring.
Cole scored 15 goals last season, and he has continued that trend into this campaign. In fact, his play has caught the attention of several Championship teams, with four of them reportedly considering making a move for him.
Middlesbrough, who are currently in last place in the Championship and have only scored five goals after seven games under Michael Carrick, is one of the teams showing interest in the 28-year-old.
The Teessiders are not, however, his only potential suitors.
Stoke and Swansea are also interested, according to sources close to the player. Cole’s old boss at Barnsley, Mike Duff, is currently in charge of the Swans, providing them a potential advantage in any transfer competition.
Bristol City is rumored to be another interested party. They had a significant role in his father Andrew’s career, who sent the athlete on the path to super-stardom. At Ashton Gate, Cole senior amassed 25 goals in 49 games, which led to a transfer to Newcastle United and the advancement of his career.
Cole junior might be excited about the possibility of following in his father’s footsteps if the Robins do make a move.
In any case, the Tykes appear certain to lose their top player in the winter window given that his contract will have expired by then and only have six months left on it.
Sources: Chelsea plan to invade Middlesbrough in search of highly regarded midfielder Fin Cartwright
TEAMtalk has learned that Chelsea is attempting to entice Middlesbrough’s highly regarded teenager Fin Cartwright to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The midfielder, 16, is the most recent graduate of Boro’s renowned academy and, after coming off the bench in their League Cup victory against Huddersfield earlier this season, became the club’s second-youngest player ever.
The goal of Chelsea’s current endeavor is to sign the top young talent in the globe. However, attracting players from within the country is just as important as from Europe and South America.
Toby Bell, a 14-year-old goalkeeper from Sunderland, has already been courted by Chelsea. Ishe Samuels-Smith, a left defender who is 17 years old, was also attracted away from Everton earlier in the transfer window.
They now want to follow it up by considering a transfer for Cartwright, who they have cited as a player with enormous potential.
This summer, Mauricio Pochettino signed a number of well-known names, but he also has an eye on the future. The management will be hoping they can reach an agreement with Middlesbrough soon since Cartwright has the potential to become a superstar.
