According to Pipe Sierra, Luis Sinisterra’s transfer from Leeds to Bournemouth on deadline day features a £18.9 million buy-option.
The Colombian journalist says that Sinisterra participated in his first practice with the Cherries today following his transfer on his own Twitter account (16 September).
He also disclosed that if he performs well on loan, Bournemouth might buy him out for €22 million (£18.9 million) the following summer.
Luis Sinisterra, 24, had his first practice as a new player for Bournemouth, he noted in his post.
“The winger from Colombia paid the Vitality Stadium a visit today. He joins on loan from Leeds with a purchase option of €22M (£18.9M) until June 2024.
That would be a weird deal on Leeds United’s part to agree to losing one of your best players on loan on deadline day, with an option to buy for less than you paid for him.
Leeds spent around £21m to sign the Colombian from Feyenoord and he was one of the better performers in the Premier League when we were relegated, but injuries were not kind to him.
He started this season well too with a goal against Ipswich in the 4-3 win but he seemingly burnt his bridges with the club when he refused to play as he wanted to leave, although it was believed that was solved when he brought back into the fold.
Leeds obviously were worried about the legal implications of keeping him and so agreed to a loan exit, but the buy option if included would surely be more beneficial to Bournemouth than Leeds if these terms are true.
We’ll have to wait and see if it comes to light, but this makes a bad deal worse for the Whites.
