Even if the season hasn’t gotten off to the best of beginnings, Kompany seems to be sticking to his strategy of signing young players, as Football Insider reports that the Clarets are now vying for Colchester striker Ihionvien, who is 19 years old.
There will, however, be fierce competition for the youngster’s signature because so many other teams are interested in recruiting him, including Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Watford, and Norwich City.
After impressing for Colchester in the early going of this season after breaking into the first team at the tail end of the 2021–22 season, the “powerful” striker has drawn interest from clubs further up the football pyramid.
The left-footed forward’s contract expires at the end of this season, so there is a chance he might be had for a bargain price. Colchester is now preparing for interest.

The English teenager progressed through Colchester’s development divisions before making an impression on the main squad this year and scoring two goals in 178 minutes of League Two action.
The most recent of them occurred less than five minutes after he was introduced as a replacement against Tranmere Rovers, demonstrating to manager Ben Garner that he is deserving of a start this weekend at home against Mansfield Town.
