Craig Dawson applauded Wolves for signing Santiago Bueno and thinks the Uruguayan will up the level of competition at the team.
In the end, Wolves added six players to their roster throughout the summer.
Along with fellow South American Enso Gonzalez, he joined the day before the transfer deadline.
Bueno has been a standout performer for Girona in La Liga over the previous few seasons.
The Uruguay national team manager, Marcelo Bielsa, has great expectations for the 24-year-old player.
Bueno was only recently added to Bielsa’s team in preparation for their upcoming matches against Chile and Ecuador.
This will prevent Bueno from working out with Gary O’Neil at Wolves, which is not the best situation.
However, Dawson believes Wolves have made a good acquisition.
Santiago Bueno’s fate is determined by Craig Dawson
Regarding his fellow center-half, Dawson has expressed his opinions.
He said, “He’s obviously a good player,” according to the Express & Star. Due to his recent arrival, we haven’t had a chance to spend much time with him, but the fight for spots benefits us in a position where we needed to get stronger.
“Of course, we need the squad’s depth, and there needs to be competition for positions.
“It can only push us and make us stronger as a team, and he looks like a great addition.”
Bueno transferred from Girona to Wolves for about £8.5 million.
Despite weeks of rumors linking the team with a move for Nico Elvedi, who stayed at Borussia Monchengladbach, the star ended up being the chosen option.
high expectations for Bueno
It was fascinating to see Wolves eventually make a move for Bueno.
When Bueno signed, Matt Hobbs remarked that the player is “driven, hungry, hardworking, and humble, but with a bit of an edge.” He said that he is exactly what we have been seeking for.
Hobbs also made note of Uruguay’s recent prowess in developing elite center backs.
Bueno therefore has the potential to be a really good small pick-up.
