Trump is currently 20 snooker games unbeaten and has made a whopping £300,000 in prize money this month
Bristolian snooker legend Judd Trump could face off against a 12-year-old on the table this weekend. The Juddernaught, 34, is currently on a run of 20 matches unbeaten after winning the English Open, Wuhan Open and the Northern Ireland Open.
This run is now at risk of coming to an embarrassing end as he competes against local wildcards at the International Championship in China on Sunday (November 5). Trump has banked a total of £300,000 in prize money this month by claiming the hat-trick of titles.
He will now face either Gong Chenzhi or Wang Xinzhong. Incredibly, amateur Wang – a prodigious talent – was born in December 2010 and may now play the 2019 world champion.
He was involved in qualifying for the Wuhan Open but lost to Si Jiahui 5-2. On the other hand, Trump is only £10,000 behind world no.1 Ronnie O’Sullivan and may soon become world number one again.
On his recent three victories, Trump said: “I may have a trip to London to let the hair down a little bit. I think it’s important to celebrate. There have been times in the past when I was winning a lot and I just went through the motions a little bit, going from one tournament to another without really celebrating my achievements.
regarded as one of the sport’s most talented players.
Born in Whitchuch, Trump won his first major title at the 2011 China Open and followed that up in the same year with the UK Championship victory. He was crowned Snooker World Champion in 2019 for the first and only time with an 18-9 victory over Scotsman John Higgins. That was over a period where Trump was at his pinnacle, winning 10 major titles over a two-year span including setting a new record for winning the most ranking titles in a single season with six including the Triple Crown.
