Tribute to Luis Diaz after Liverpool’s first goal following his parents’ kidnapping
Jurgen Klopp
and his Liverpool side have returned to the top four of the Premier League after defeating Nottingham Forest, 3-0 but importantly paid tribute to Luis Diaz who is absent on personal grounds
Liverpool beat Forest at Anfield in a match overshadowed by what happened to Diaz‘s family in Colombia as his parents were kidnapped on Saturday evening in Barrancas. The winger was not at the match and Diogo Jota, after scoring the opener, remembered him by showing his shirt to the stands.
The second goal of the match was finished by Darwin Nunez from Dominik Szoboszlai‘s pass after great play. The Hungarian was given a delightful defence-splitting ball from Mohamed Salah leaving him to fire across the six-yard box for Nunez to tap home from close range.
Liverpool shone and only Matt Turner prevented a bigger scoreline at half-time. Klopp‘s team confirm their good form and strengthen their position in the Champions League places after 10 games of the season.
The match was rounded out by Salah, who took advantage of a tremendous mistake by Turner to score the third of the contest. That makes eight goals and four assists for the Egyptian in 10 Premier League games.
A high level of quality on display from the Anfield star, who fortunately for Klopp stayed at Liverpool and did not go to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
