Jurgen Klopp has praised Alexis Mac Allister’s performance for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest, with the Argentine impressive in midfield.
Speaking to journalist Theo Squires after the 3-0 win, the Anfield boss lauded Mac Allister’s all-round performance as the £35m midfielder enjoyed a complete display against Forest.
Starting at the base of the midfield again, Mac Allister was able to push forward today as Steve Cooper’s side couldn’t cope with Liverpool’s quality as Forest failed to register a single shot on target.
It was one of Mac Allister’s best performances to date since the midfielder made the move to Merseyside this summer, and Klopp was pleased with what he saw from the South American
The Liverpool manager said when asked about Mac Allister’s performance against Forest from the deepest midfield position: “It’s not a discussion we have, or we wouldn’t play him there.
“Today everyone could see the benefit of a player who comes from the offensive side in a game where you have to create things. Really pleased for him. A lot of defensive top moments.”
Mac Allister has been used in a different role at Liverpool, with the former attacking midfielder now dropping deeper into something quite unusual.
Yet this weekend’s display against Forest was the best Liverpool fans have seen from Mac Allister yet, and the best is yet to come from the midfielder.
Indeed, Klopp has stuck at Mac Allister in the holding role, and the result today has shown that the persistence has worked well, with the Argentine enjoying his best game yet.
