Josh Powell has selected Pharrell Johnson, a gem for Nottingham Forest, as the B-Team’s fastest player. When the B-Team plays Nice in the Premier League International Cup tonight, the two hope to be involved.
Powell was given the opportunity to make a move to join the Forest squad this summer. He participated in multiple preseason friendlies and went to Spain for the preseason camp.
Ultimately, Forest managed to get a couple of left-backs added to their ranks and Powell is now back with the B-Team. He’s playing well this season and clearly, he’s reaped the rewards of his stint with Cooper’s squad.
Powell raves about B-Team starlet Johnson
The talented 19-year-old is a mountain of a central defender. He is strong, good in the air and also possesses good positional awareness required to be a central defender.
Earlier this week, Powell sat down with fellow academy starlet Joe Gardner. Together they were answering a number of different questions on their teammates.
One of the questions out of the bag asked the two players which teammate was the quickest in the B-Team ranks. Powell didn’t have to think too long and delivered an emphatic answer.
He told the club’s official YouTube channel: “Ah, that’s easy that one, Pharrell Johnson. He’s absolutely rapid, rapid he is!”
Johnson and Powell will hope to make big impact at Forest
Both players are showing impressive signs of progress on Trentside. Johnson and Powell are both hardworking performers and they will be keen to taste men’s football in the future.
Powell has already introduced himself to Cooper during pre-season. Johnson will be hoping to get a similar chance to shine in the future even if it’s by training with the first-team.
The future does look very bright for the academy. The B-Team have made a strong start to 2023/24 and Powell and Johnson are players to keep an eye on for the future.a
