Following protracted talks between the two teams that began during the summer transfer window, the 16-year-old has now sealed his move to the Championship side.
The midfielder has finalized a move to Southampton’s U18s, bringing the transaction to a close. This transfer has been ongoing since July, with Dom Ballard joining the League One club on loan as part of the deal.
Since joining Reading on loan on deadline day, Ballard has made seven appearances. During this period, the 18-year-old has contributed three goals and two assists, with four of those coming in a single EFL Trophy match.
Russell Martin’s team presently sit fifth in the Championship standings, having won six of their first 12 games in the division. They head to Preston North End on Wednesday evening, hoping to close the gap on the top two sides.
The midfielder has joined the Saints on a youth scholarship with the intention of turning it into a professional agreement if he impresses the club’s senior management.
Andy Goldie, academy director at the club, stated…
“Thierry and his family are very welcome to the Academy.” Following a thorough evaluation by Jack Chapman, Simon Jones, and our scouting team, Thierry emerged as our top target due to his versatility throughout our midfield profiles and pgrowth, which we look forward to supporting him with over the coming years.
“Thanks must also go to Mark Bowen and Michael Gilks at Reading, who have been incredibly supportive and professional throughout the process.”

Southampton has a very successful youth system, which has seen the rise of several players, including Gareth Bale, James Ward-Prowse, and Luke Shaw, and would have been a major factor in Rohart-Brown’s decision to join the club.
Reading will be disappointed because they have lost another young talent due to off-field issues at the time of writing, and it remains to be seen how successful the youngster can be in his new home.
