When Destiny Udogie of Tottenham Hotspur took up a position against Fulham last night, Ally McCoist acknowledged that he was taken aback.
McCoist saw another thrilling victory for Spurs while covering the game for TalkSPORT (24/10, 8:23 p.m.).
A few months ago, this side appeared to be in total crisis, but Ange Postecoglou has completely transformed it.
Instead of going into a freefall after losing Harry Kane, the team is playing brilliantly and leads the Premier League by two points.
He has brought in multiple new players and skillfully incorporated them into the squad while putting in place an entirely new tactical scheme.
Despite not being a new addition to the squad this year, Destiny Udogie was only recently brought in after spending the previous campaign on loan at Udinese.
Known for being an attacking wing-back, Udogie has looked accomplished in one-on-one duels with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah.
Ally McCoist has acknowledged that he was taken aback by Udogie’s final position on the field against Fulham yesterday.
The £21 million defender is performing admirably and appears to have adjusted to a whole new role this season.
Astonished by the Udogie stance against Fulham
“I’m looking at [Destiny] Udogie’s starting position as well when Tottenham has it in kind of a back three,” McCoist said in reference to the Italian defender.
In reality, he is playing in a position that is similar to the left side of a number ten.
