Florida Gators’ Class of 2025 took a significant hit as Tae’Shaun Gelsey, a four-star wide receiver and tight end hybrid, flipped his commitment to Florida State during the Early Signing Period. Gelsey, a standout at Riverside High School in Jacksonville, Florida, had been committed to the Gators since June. However, a late push from the Seminoles, including an official visit in November, convinced him to change his decision.
Florida State prioritized Gelsey after lacking committed wide receivers in their 2025 class. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound athlete, ranked 332nd nationally and 17th among tight ends by 247Sports, praised the Seminoles’ coaching staff and facilities during his recruitment. He cited the visit as “something I needed,” tipping the scales in favor of FSU’s consistent efforts.
This move underscores Florida State’s aggressive recruiting strategy, particularly against in-state rivals like Florida, while raising questions about the Gators’ ability to retain top talent in a highly competitive recruiting landscape.
