The Reds got off to a fast start and had a chance to take the lead in the first ten minutes. Chris Wood’s attempt was saved, and a moment later Ibrahim Sangare crossed the line.
A few cautionary shots were fired from the opposing end as Jacob Brown missed a free-kick and the Hatters sent some risky balls into the box. However, Forest was still presented with opportunities; they just needed to seize them.
In the twenty-fourth minute, a cross from Anthony Elanga required a crucial deflection to keep Wood out. Additionally, in extra time before the half, the hosts squandered two excellent chances: Wood headed wide and Sangare missed a wide shot from inside the box.
However, the breakthrough quickly materialized in the second half. After half an hour, Elanga fed Wood, and the forward finished calmly.
