A huge blow to Caitlin Clark comes when the Indiana Fever lose a key player ahead of the playoffs.
Temi Fagbenle, the Indiana Fever’s forward, could be out for the WNBA playoffs, which would provide a problem for Caitlin Clark and the team. The injury is to his right shoulder. While Fagbenle’s official absence duration is still unknown, her availability for Wednesday’s game against the LA Sparks is labeled as uncertain.
Chloe Peterson of IndyStar reports that this is Fagbenle’s third injury of the season, which further restricts her availability. Fagbenle has made a significant contribution off the bench for the Fever (17-16) this season despite only playing in 16 games. In 19 minutes per game, he averages 6.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks.Indiana’s setback comes at a bad time because they have been playing well since the Olympics, going 6-1 and climbing into the sixth seed in the playoff standings.
After failing to make the playoffs since 2016, the Fever will try to continue their winning ways with a crucial run of six straight home games before concluding the regular season against the Washington Due to her injury setbacks, Fagbenle’s playing time with rookie sensation Clark has been restricted. Fagbenle, though, has praised Clark’s contribution to the squad. She gave her assessment of Clark’s ability back in May, complimenting her on her playmaking and leadership abilities, which have made the Fever more competitive.
“She’s a great passer, and she’s always going to pass it when I’m open,” she said.
It’s very remarkable, as we haven’t practiced together very often. There are very few point guards like that in my experience who seem to know plays before they are executed.”
