Pitcher who was once a star for the Philadelphia Phillies will try to return next season.

One of the former pitchers for the Philadelphia Phillies will try to return to the Major Leagues the following season after failing to find a new home during this season. The Philadelphia Phillies intend to purchase prior to the July 30 trading deadline. They utterly dominated their opponents all season long, finishing with the greatest record in Major League Baseball going into the All-Star break.

Every player on this team wanted to start 2024 strong, something they had failed to do in previous years. They definitely succeeded in doing so, based on their performance thus far, but they have much higher goals in mind. Any club in this sport knows how difficult it is to win the World Series, as the Phillies are all too familiar with having lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS last season and falling short of winning the trophy by two games in 2022.

Before being transferred to the bullpen for the postseason, Syndergaard had a respectable record of 4.12 ERA during his 10 appearances and nine starts. While he was a valuable asset during that stretch of the season, giving up only three earned runs in 8.1 innings of work in his four appearances and two starts, the right-hander wasn’t the game-changer the Phillies’ pitching staff may have required. Nevertheless, he was given another chance in 2023 when he signed a $13 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Jon Heyman of The New York Post reports that Syndergaard will try to make some changes and see if he can get a team next season. This should enable him to address the problems that have dogged him since his injury-plagued Mets seasons of 2017–19 and his Tommy John surgery that ultimately kept him out of the game for the entirety of 2020. Although the 31-year-old’s days as a top starting pitcher are long gone, there’s still a chance he can devote all of his attention to become a reliever and succeed in that capacity.
