Dawn Staley The WNBA’s royalty is Angel Reed, but Caitlin Clark isn’t far behind!
Legendary college basketball coach Dawn Staley claims that if the WNBA season ended today, Angel Reese—not Caitlin Clark—would win Rookie of the Year. while TMZ Sports met up with the head coach of South Carolina women’s basketball, she didn’t hold back while speaking her opinion. As of right now, Reese is more worthy of the title. “At this time — today — it’s Angel,” she stated. “Without a doubt.”
But don’t misunderstand… There’s still plenty of time for Clark to catch up to and surpass Reese, according to Staley, who has won NCAA titles in two of the last three seasons. Regardless, both have excellent claims to the enormous honor; as of Friday night’s game against the Mercury, Clark was averaging 16.7 points and 7.6 assists per game. Through 22 games played so far, Reese has averaged 13.8 points and 11.8 rebounds. According to Staley, the winner may ultimately depend on which young player propels their club to the postseason.
- Naturally, Staley’s response needs to be taken seriously. The former guard for the Virginia Cavaliers was selected ninth overall in the 1999 WNBA Draft and went on to win six All-Star selections. To put it another way, Staley is an expert!
