It has been reported that Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has left the Nigerian camp sooner than anticipated.
The Super Eagles attacker scored in a Friday 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia while on international duty with the team. In that contest, he came off the bench as Wilfred Ndidi, a colleague from Leicester, played the entire game.
Iheanacho will reportedly not participate in their match against Mozambique on Monday, October 16. He has already departed their camp, which explains why.
Iheanacho reportedly left the training camp on Saturday (October 14), according to a report from the Nigerian website All Nigeria Soccer. He allegedly received an excuse due to a “family emergency”.
Despite Leicester having a league match just five days after Nigeria’s next match, Ndidi appears to be staying with his national squad. After a long commute, it is unclear if he will be ready for Iheanacho
Iheanacho and Ndidi will be candidates to start against the strong Swans if they are both available the following weekend. Michael Duff, their manager, has already commented on the match.
