According to reports, Manchester City is getting more interested in signing defender Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The left-sided winger has always been well-liked at Molineux, but under former boss Julen Lopetegui, he wasn’t always guaranteed a spot in the squad.
Nevertheless, Gary O’Neil’s arrival has improved matters, as the Algerian international is now a crucial component of a generally appealing 3-4-3 formation.
Even though Ait-Nouri is only 22 years old and has only scored two goals and provided one assist in the Premier League, his overall play has only improved his standing.
Wolves are in an uncommon position with relation to Ait-Nouri because of Angers’ 50% sell-on clause from their previous club.
It is reported that the West Midlands team has the opportunity to purchase that clause.
and developments are expected in the summer courtesy of the player having just over two years remaining on his contract.
Although it’s unclear if Wolves would be open to considering that option, the report indicates that City would be willing to include Sergio Gomez in any pitch for Ait-Nouri.
Ait-Nouri is reportedly valued by Wolves at around €70 million (£59.76 million), a decision that was undoubtedly affected by the Angers predicament.
Ait-Nouri has reportedly piqued Liverpool’s interest as well, but it’s currently unclear who will succeed Jurgen Klopp after the current campaign ends.
The Merseyside giants now have plenty of options at left back, with Joe Gomez and Owen Beck as backups and Kostas Tsimikas serving as Andrew Robertson’s backup.
Is a move to Manchester City feasible?
Man City and Wolves have a history of economic dealings. Tommy Doyle moved on loan to the Etihad Stadium last summer, while Matheus Nunes left Molineux for the same location. In the summer, that agreement is anticipated to become permanent.
Ait-Nouri is in a slightly different circumstance. Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, and Rico Lewis are already available for Pep Guardiola to use at left back as needed.
It only makes sense to trade for Ait-Nouri at that price if Guardiola intends to frequently play a back three. Playing at wing-back is far more Ait-Nouri’s forte than at full-back.
It’s possible that City will need to be reasonable in their Gomez appraisal.
