Could Micah Parsons become the Cowboys’ kickoff returner? The linebacker has ‘lobbied’ to do so…
The powerful linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, Micah Parsons, is not only skilled on defense. With his versatility as a player, he sees himself as a potential special teams contributor, especially as a kickoff returner.
On the Ross Tucker Football Podcast, Dallas special teams coordinator John Fassel shared some important information. He revealed that Parsons, who has the ability to be a game-changer for the squad, has been vocally pushing for the chance to assume the position of kickoff returner for the forthcoming campaign.
Parsons turning into a returner for kickoffs?
Although Fassel acknowledges Parsons’ potential as a kickoff returner, he also emphasizes how important the team management is when it comes to making decisions. He implies that final clearance for such a major role extension would have to come “from higher up.”
Micah is someone you know. In the past, he has pushed me to serve as the main kickoff returner. “Micah, you need to go a little further up than me on that one,” I said in response to that question. Would I mind seeing him back there, though? Without a doubt, he would be amazing. When he caught it, he would run like crazy and most likely gain amazing yards. However, it is not going to occur. That’s something I know.
Since joining the NFL in 2021, Parsons—who will turn 25 in a few months—has rapidly established himself as one of the best defensive players in the game. His on-field performance speaks for itself with an astounding 40.5 sacks, 8 pass defenses, 7 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries in just 50 career games.
But it appears that some within the company are concerned about his off-field actions.
