Aaron Ramsey: Cardiff City and Wales midfielder set to miss Euro 2024 play-off
After missing Wales’ Euro 2024 play-offs for a month due to injury, captain Aaron Ramsey is expected to miss them.
The midfield player for Cardiff City was believed to have suffered a mild calf strain, but manager Erol Bulut has disclosed that the injury is actually a more serious tendon problem.
On March 21, Wales takes on Finland in their Euro 2024 play-off semifinal match. Five days later, they might play Poland or Estonia at home in the championship game.
“They [medical staff] told me four to six weeks,” Bulut replied.
“I was told there was a strain, but I learned yesterday that there was actually a strain on the tendon rather than the muscle.
“He will be available maybe the end of March.”
Ramsey had only appeared twice for Cardiff as a substitute this month following his comeback from a September-related knee ailment.
Bulut responded, “Yes,” when asked if his most recent injury—which occurred during practice—would prevent him from playing in Wales’ play-off semifinal the following month. “This is also disappointing for us and for Ramsey,” he continued.
“I’ll do everything in my power to help him. I understand his emotions. It’s difficult for a player to miss five months of action, return, play, and then sustain an almost insignificant injury.
“I understand that it’s injuries on top of injuries, but he’s also unhappy.
“But I’ll stand with him all the way through. I’m hoping he can return as soon as feasible. He is the necessary characteristic.
“He is a crucial player for Cardiff and Wales.” He is a significant participant. For all coaches, a player who lacks the quality on the field is lost.”
