How much should the Boston Celtics be worried about Jrue Holiday’s injury?
Fans of the Boston Celtics have been looking for anything to worry about with their favorite ball club holding a vice grip on the NBA’s best record, and now it appears they might actually have one. Word has come out that veteran Celtics floor general Jrue Holiday has been dealing with a shoulder injury — and evidently not a minor one.
How much should we be worried about this for Boston? Could it linger to the start of the 2024 NBA Playoffs or beyond? Or are we all just collectively looking for ways to scare ourselves until the coming postseason finally arrives in mid-April?
On a recent episode, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Beat” podcast linked up with Boston blogger Dan Greenberg on the potential impact of Holiday’s injury.
The possible extension for Derrick White and Coach Mazzulla’s Coach of the Year argument are also discussed.
If you like this podcast, you should also listen to the many other New England sports podcasts on the CLNS Media network, including “First to the Floor,” “How Bout Them Celtics,” and others.
Jrue Holiday workout video is a good sign for injured Celtics guard
The original article “Jue Holiday workout video is a good sign for injured Celtics guard” ran on NBC Sports. Boston
When Jrue Holiday said on Friday that he has been suffering with “dead arm” in his right shoulder and that there isn’t a set timeline for his return, Boston Celtics fans became a little nervous.
Fortunately, there is video evidence demonstrating that Holiday’s right arm is still functional.
Despite having an injured right shoulder, the Boston Celtics guard made jumpers during a brief practice at United Center on Saturday night before the team’s game against the Chicago Bulls.
With what the team is referring to as a right AC joint sprain, Holiday is expected to miss his fourth straight game. The Celtics would be prudent to take it easy with the veteran guard’s injury. There’s no sense in pushing Holiday back and taking a chance on another injury because Boston essentially has the Eastern Conference No. 1 seed secured with an 11-game lead and 12 games still to play.
However, Holiday also stated that he wanted to get back into the game as quickly as possible to prevent being too rusty for the postseason.
Holiday stated to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, “I still want to play.” That’s one of the reasons I participate in basketball. It also maintains rhythm, though. Long periods of absence can occasionally cause one to lose rhythm, but I feel like I’ve been in a nice groove, and I want to play some more.”
Holiday appeared to be in the “groove” before the game, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he returned to action before the playoffs started on April 20.
