Gary O’Neil heaps praise on ‘incredibly selfless’ Wolves midfielder
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has heaped praise on ‘incredibly selfless’ Mario Lemina for being willing to sacrifice his position for the team.
Due to injuries elsewhere, the midfielder may be required in positions other than his normal one in the upcoming weeks. He played on the left wing in the victory over Fulham.
O’Neil is all praise for the 30-year-old’s willingness to take the team’s leadership role.
O’Neil stated, “He can play as a deep-lying midfielder, absolutely, and he’s very good at it.”
“However, he possesses the physical makeup and quality to play further up the field if necessary.
We’ve needed him to do a little bit more in the last several.
“I’ve discussed it extensively with Mario. He is capable of doing both, and it’s possible that he would want to focus more on one than the other.
He is aware, though, that occasionally the team will need him to perform the other duties.
He is a very unselfish man who is willing to give his life for others. He would undoubtedly help us win the game if I told him he was playing somewhere where he might only receive a 4/10 in the press the next day.
“Perhaps he would only receive a 4/10 in goal; otherwise, he’s certainly better!
He would gladly forgo his own accomplishments and reputation in order to support the team, which is occasionally necessary.
“He pushes the group, which makes him a great senior player and a nice guy overall. He will be necessary to continue acting in this manner.
