Gary O’Neil gives challenge to Wolves players ahead of run-in
Gary O’Neil has challenged his Wolves players not to drop their standards for the season’s run-in.
Wolves moved up to seventh in the Premier League and within striking reach of the European spots with a comeback victory over Fulham.
This weekend, Wolves will also play in an FA Cup quarterfinal, and the head coach has urged his team to persevere.
O’Neil remarked, “I don’t want the ceiling to come. I’ve spoken to them already.” “Being on 38 points prior to the Fulham match is incredibly simple for us, and 38 points is probably not going to drop. They may believe that this game isn’t that important because there is a major Cup game soon, but they all are.
“Now is the time to fight. We can wait until things get messy once more, or until we’re at least fourth from the bottom, and then we can start fighting. Alternatively, we might carry on fighting and see how far we can get in the league.
The players must rise to that challenge. Is it possible for us to remain uncomfortable, to never let up, to persevere through every obstacle, and to keep pushing forward to reach our goals?
After a challenging preseason, Wolves has exceeded expectations with their current level of success this season.
Nelson Semedo, though, has praised the caliber of the locker room and asserted that there is still plenty the club needs to do.
“I don’t think we lost quality (in the summer),” stated Semedo. We have demonstrated that the guys we currently have are capable of playing very good football, even if we lost some extremely talented players.
“We have been practicing a lot, winning a lot of games, and Gary O’Neil has added a good football style to the team.” We’re going great, but we still need to play each game individually.
Naturally, we now have 41 points, but there is still much more for us to accomplish, so we must continue.
