The seasoned Texas Longhorns linebacker Jordan Hicks is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, which will be a big boost to their defensive line-up.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, the Browns moved quickly to fill the vacuum left by the departures of Anthony Walker Jr. and Sione Takitaki, acquiring Hicks in a $8 million deal.

Hicks, who is 31 years old, has a ton of experience because he was a player for the Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, and Minnesota Vikings. Jim Schwartz, who currently plays a similar function with the Browns, was the defensive coordinator during his time in Philadelphia.

The Browns have improved their defensive core with the addition of Hicks, even though they lost Takitaki to the New England Patriots not long after. Hicks has started 119 of the 122 games he has played in the NFL, demonstrating consistency and adaptability over his nine years in the league. During his tenure with the Vikings, he recorded several noteworthy accomplishments, such as 147 solo tackles, four sacks, and numerous turnovers.

As he approaches his eleventh season in the NFL, Hicks continues to be a dependable player for the Browns.

In his college years, he demonstrated his abilities on the field, collecting a plethora of awards, including inclusion in the All-Big 12 team and second-team All-American acclaim.

His track record of success and leadership make him an invaluable addition to the Browns’ defensive unit.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks is heading to the Browns on a two-year, $8 million contract.

The Vikings’ acquisition of Blake Cashman on Monday for a three-year, $22.5 million contract (with $15 million guaranteed) made Hicks’ exit via free agency inevitable. Minnesota is getting younger at inside linebacker with Cashman replacing Hicks, along with Ivan Pace Jr., a second-year player.

However, judging from the previous two years, Hicks still has a lot left in the tank. Both a quality athlete and a personable locker room presence are coming to Cleveland.

Entering his ninth NFL season, Hicks was selected by Texas in the third round of the 2015 draft. After spending four years in Philadelphia to start his career, he spent three years with the Cardinals. He’s now moving to Cleveland to join a star-studded defense.
