Cowboys ‘Right Opportunity’ for J.K. Dobbins Signing, Says Dez Bryant
Dillon of the Green Bay Packers is reportedly “looking” at Dallas, at least until he sees the meager offer the Cowboys would provide. Furthermore, it is now known that Dez Bryant is supporting a different, lesser-known candidate, and he is doing so with good cause.
Bryant wrote of the recovering Ravens back Dobbins, “I know (he’s) hungry and destined for a big season with the right opportunity.” “A lot of those young guys will see first hand what hard work looks like.”
There are a few things to go through in that. Dobbins, who was perhaps forced out of Baltimore by the Henry trade, may be forced to sign a contract for minimum pay because of his lengthy history of injuries, which may deter NFL teams from making significant financial commitments to the former second-round pick who, because to an Achilles tear sustained in Week 1 versus Houston—his hometown—missed nearly the whole 2023 season and the entirety of 2021 due to a meniscus ailment.
Rehab is apparently going well, but to what extent? In what time frame?
Is this a $1 million minimum deal for vets? Invest cheap, hope high?
Lastly, in response to Dez’s statement: Do certain Dallas players need to witness “first-hand” what perseverance looks like? Is that a reflection of something inside The Star that needs some extra help?
The most reliable running back alternatives on the Cowboys’ current roster are Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis, along with (fullback?) Hunter Luepke. Only players who are willing to sign for extremely low salaries—possibly minimum pay contracts—will be considered for their roster.
