Brad Stevens isn’t taking the Celtics success for granted
Brad Stevens had two significant market swings throughout the summer. He parted ways with Robert Williams, Marcus Smart, and Malcolm Brogdon and signed Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday. A sign-and-trade allowed Grant Williams to go as well. The Boston Celtics are now favorites to win the title as a result of such actions.
But Boston’s President of Basketball Operations is aware of how fast the NBA may alter. Stevens recently discussed his summertime thought process in an interview with Heavy on Sports’ Steve Bulpett. That’s probably what’s motivating him to keep searching for methods to make the roster better.
The goal of the new collective bargaining agreement is to restrict the formation and upkeep of super teams by teams. It is anticipated that championship windows would open and close much more quickly than in previous years. Stevens must thus constantly consider how to enhance the group while satisfying the owning group
Still, Boston has a wide open window right now. That’s probably going to stay that way for a minimum of two years. But as Stevens pointed out, being a contender is precarious. Because of this, the club’s supporters are excited to see the Larry O’Brien trophy returned to the team at the end of the campaign.
