England’s Nottingham (AP) — Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday increased their chances of surviving in the English Premier League.
At the end of each half, Taiwo Awoniyi and Callum Hudson-Odoi scored in stoppage time at the City Ground.
With the dismissal of on-loan midfielder Kalvin Phillips, West Ham was down to ten men.
With the win, Forest’s four-game league losing streak came to an end as they rose five points above the relegation zone.
Awoniyi gave Forest the lead in the fifth minute of first-half added time. Nicolas Dominguez passed the ball to him as he was facing the goal in the penalty area. He then spun around Nayef Aguerd and put the ball past Alphonse Areola, the goalie for West Ham.
After receiving a second yellow card in a matter of minutes, Phillips was sent off, dashnging West Ham’s hopes of a comeback.
When Hudson-Odoi scored from close range in the fourth minute of stoppage, Forest was certain of victory.
