When it came to passing offense and defense per play, the Philadelphia Eagles performed in the middle of the pack in the NFL; yet, when it came to games played per game, they were close to the bottom of the league.
That’s obviously not good enough, considering how the Eagles faltered throughout the regular season and were ultimately destroyed in the postseason.
Equipped with this knowledge, Pro Football Focus used its most recent two-round mock NFL Draft to search for gains in that area on both sides of the ball.
No. 22: Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton, overtime
At the Reese’s Senior Bowl, the collegiate right tackle had a strong practice week and, ironically, already has a link to Philadelphia thanks to his friendship with offensive tackle Lane Johnson
He informed me that I was a promising right tackle,” Guyton remarked of Johnson. From then, our relationship developed. He’s a truly amazing guy. I went in to see him working out [at Oklahoma] and asked him some questions while I took some sets with him.”
CB Mike Sainristil, Michigan (from the New Orleans Saints), is ranked No. 50.
Watching Michigan’s march to the College Football Championship this season, you probably saw Sainristil step up to the plate at crucial moments, solidifying his team’s title as the nation’s best.
.Although Sainristil has experience in all defensive formations, the slot is where he excels.
No. 54: WR Polk, Ja’Lynn, Washington
With the Huskies lining up in the slot and out wide, Polk demonstrated his versatility.
This year, he had his best-graded season as a college football player, finishing in the top 16 nationally despite only missing four passes and hauling in 16 contested receptions.
The Eagles would benefit quarterback Jalen Hurts’ future by combining that pick with the addition of a reliable receiver threat to go along with studs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. This would also be a good addition to their aging offensive line.
To put the Philadelphia defense back into a legitimate contender, adding a versatile cornerback would be a smart move.
