2024 Panini Rising Stars:Schedule, roster, and operational details
As part of NBA All-Star 2024, the NBA’s yearly showcase of outstanding young talent, the 2024 Panini Rising Stars, will take place on Friday, February 16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis (9 p.m. ET, TNT).
Honorary coaches Pau Gasol, Tamika Catchings, and Jalen Rose conducted a player draft in which Team Pau selected Victor Wembanyama first overall.
NBA G League player coach Detlef Schrempf will lead the team.
How it functions
The showcase will include a three-game mini-tournament between four teams made up of NBA rookies, sophomores, and G League players for the third year in a row.
Rising Stars Draft, which was streamed live on the NBA App on Tuesday, February 6th, allowed Gasol (Team Pau), Catchings (Team Tamika), and Rose (Team Jalen) to choose their clubs. The NBA G League club will be coached by Schrempf (club Detlef).
The mini-tournament’s three games will all be played to a Final Target Score, which means that rather than the clock running out, each game will end on a made basket or free throw.
Game 1 and Game 2 of the semifinals will be contested to a Final Target Score of 40.

The instructors
After leading his team to the Rising Stars championship the previous year, six-time NBA All-Star and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Gasol will return as one of the four honorary head coaches. Catchings, Rose, and Schrempf have joined Gasol as honorary head coaches.
Legendary player and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Catchings guided the Indiana Fever to the 2012 WNBA title. Rose was the Kia NBA Most Improved Player that season and assisted the Pacers in getting to the 2000 NBA Finals. Three-time NBA All-Star Schrempf was a Pacers player who won back-to-back Kia NBA Sixth Man Awards in 1990–91 and 1991–92.
How players were selected
In selecting the NBA players for Panini Rising Stars, each NBA team submitted one ballot per coaching staff. Each coaching staff selected four frontcourt players, four guards and two additional players at either position, in order of preference, for the rookie ballot and the sophomore ballot. Coaches were not permitted to vote for any player on their team.
The NBA participants for Panini Rising Stars were determined by the total points each player received from the ballots. Points were awarded based on where a player was ranked on each ballot. The player pool includes one more rookie than sophomore based on total points received.
