Ali Carter was advised by Laila Rouass, the girlfriend of Ronnie O’Sullivan, to “hush your mouth and be a good boy” in response to the intense argument between the two athletes.
After O’Sullivan overcame a 6-3 deficit to win 10-7 and won his seventh Masters title at Alexandra Palace earlier this month, Carter took a jab at his rival. Over the years, the couple’s relationship has been tense, but things became worse when Carter called O’Sullivan out for “snotting all over the floor”.
When O’Sullivan learned of Carter’s remarks during his post-game news conference, he responded immediately, calling Carter a “f***ing nightmare” and asserting that he had “issues”. O’Sullivan gave a stern look and lifted his middle finger during the profanity-filled tirade.
A few days later, Carter replied, stating that O’Sullivan need mental health assistance and expressing sympathy for him. I doubt that he is in that much mental health.” O’Sullivan defeated Judd Trump in the final to win the World Grand Prix in Leicester, where the public spat persisted. Now, O’Sullivan’s girlfriend has taken aim at Carter after resurfacing comments made about The Rocket when he was stuck on six World Championship titles. At the time, Carter claimed O’Sullivan wouldn’t win another one, but he later won his seventh in 2022 after an 18-13 win over Trump. Speaking on Instagram, Rouass said: “Ali Carter said four or five years ago that Ronnie doesn’t have another World Championship win in him. What did he go and do? He went and won. That didn’t age well, did it Ali Carter? Now hush your mouth and be a good boy. Concentrate on your snooker.” Carter was heading towards his first Masters title at Ally Pally before O’Sullivan came back to win. “There were a couple of things
“Well, they are noticed, but anyone with a brain or eyesight can see what’s happening. And to be honest, it’s repulsive. I mean, who wants to say anything? snorting across the floor and other like things.”
Upon learning of Carter’s remarks, O’Sullivan retorted, “He needs to sort his f***ing life out,” “I refuse to avoid it any longer, tread carefully near someone of that caliber. He is an absolute nightmare.
It’s a nightmare to play snooker against someone like him. He is not a kind individual. He leaves a bad impression on everyone at the table. I don’t give a damn; I’ve had my say. I’m done talking about it. You and everyone else are aware of his personality.
“Why is he acting so strangely toward me? I refuse to accept it. Grow some balls, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter to me; I don’t care about any of these snooker players. Every time he gets on my nerves, I f***ing punish him more. All he’s doing is making a hole for himself. I could care less. That concludes my statement.
