Old NFL General Manager: Stefanski should still direct plays; Browns’ hiring of an offensive coordinator is more of a “administrative” role
WOIO, CLEVELAND, Ohio – Former NFL Executive of the Year Randy Mueller told 19 News that the position is more “administrative” throughout the week as the Browns continue their interview process for offensive coordinators.
Mueller added that, as he has done since joining Cleveland, head coach Kevin Stefanski ought to continue calling plays.
Regarding Stefanski’s job, Browns general manager Andrew Berry stated on Monday:
“That relies in part on Kevin’s choices and where we land with the personnel. That will ultimately be up to him when he assembles the staff. I believe it’s one of Kevin’s strengths, as we’ve stated several times, but how that plays out year to year is ultimately something we recess.
The Eagles’ former offensive coordinator, Brian Johnson, is reportedly speaking with the Browns today.
Alex Van Pelt, who was hired by Stefanski four years ago as the offensive coordinator, was let go by the Browns last week.
