According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, against the Cincinnati Bengals, edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux of the New York Giants injured his MCL.
Thibodeaux’s ACL and meniscus are unharmed, according to Schefter, and the Giants anticipate a 3–4 week recovery period. The group is still holding out hope that he will be fit to face the Tennessee Titans on September 11.
Before he fell to the ground, Thibodeaux’s knee bowed in an unnatural way, which was a frightening sight to behold. He eventually left the field on foot, but was immediately dismissed from the contest.
Thibodeaux was hurt during a tacky (but not illegal) play in which he mishandled a cut block from a Bengals tight end. The tight end struck the rookie EDGE low, putting most of his weight on his right leg. Even though Thibodeaux won’t be available for the Giants for a few weeks, this is probably one of the finest results from a worrying circumstance.
Injuries to other Giants who played against the Bengals were DT D.J. Davidson, WR C.J. Board, LB Darian Beavers, and K Graham Gano (concussion).
Hold on to Big Blue View for updates as they become available on the other Giants injured players.
