Jaylen Brown Laughs Off a Stupid Mistake Following Rockets Victory
The Boston Celtics, who had lost their first game at home this season, quickly recovered. Jaylen Brown also had a terrific comeback performance.
Two days earlier, two days after the Denver Nuggets had delivered Boston its first home loss of the season, Brown had recorded a triple-double in a 116-107 victory over the Houston Rockets. Even though Brown finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, things did not go as planned. He laughed off his own misdirected pass on the first play of the game.
When the Celtics traveled to Houston on Sunday, January 21, they were hoping to snap their second two-game losing streak of the year. The Celtics sought to bounce back from their 102-100 defeat to the Nuggets in their road game against the Rockets.
Brown tried to establish the tone early in the game. It just did not occur.
After dribbling to the foul line, Brown attempted a pass to himself but missed the backboard. The ball flew over his outstretched arm and into the arms of a Rockets player as he raced in to hammer it home.
Have fun
After the game, Brown remarked, “It looked great in my head.” “I gave it a little work tonight, but I just didn’t have the energy.” My legs were well-cooked. But while it seemed fantastic up here (pointing to his head), it wasn’t as good in real life.
Notwithstanding the error, Brown played well, hitting six of his fourteen shots to record his third career triple-double. He was one of four players who started the game with at least ten points. With 32, Kristaps Porzingis took the lead. With 21 points, Derrick White came next, while Jayson Tatum contributed 18. Al Horford (rest) and Jrue Holiday (right elbow injury) were not available for the Celtics’ game.
In the second part of a Texas back-to-back, the Celtics aim to start a new winning run straight away when they visit the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. The sole player on the early injury report (Porzingis, right knee irritation) should be back in the lineup, along with Holiday and Horford. Porzingis is not listed.
Throughout the season, the Celtics have been careful with their big man. This season, he has already had a calf injury and played with a damaged ankle. Throughout his playing career, Porzingis has struggled with health issues. Due to an ACL tear, he missed the whole 2018–19 season. Since then, he has never once participated in more than 57 games in a season.
Although Porzingis would much prefer be on the court, he is aware that his health is the team’s first priority as they prepare for the postseason.
