Joel Bitonio and Myles Garrett Win Additional Honors
Two important Browns players made the list of winners for the 2023 season, which was announced by the Pro Football Writers Association.
Myles Garrett will win more honors when the Cleveland Browns football team plays another season.
Garrett has once again won a berth on the Pro Football Writers All-NFL team for 2023. With this streak, he has been elected to the team for four years running, making him the member with the longest stay on this list.
Those who just look at sacks as a way of output at the EDGE position have clouded Garrett’s season. Even though he should be considered for the end-of-season honors for his 14 sacks, 30 quarterback hits, and 17 tackles for loss, Garrett has flourished when he can control the variables and disrupt the passing game.
He has no capacity to stop the quarterback from throwing the ball a mere fraction of a second before his arrival. Pro Foot Focus reports that he ended with the greatest pass-rush victory percentage (27%) of any pass rusher in the NFL. He also recorded 37 total pressures.
Joel Bitonio was selected to the All-AFC Team. Bitonio has been a member of the Pro Bowl squad for six consecutive seasons and the first-team All-Pro team for the past two seasons. Even if Bitonio’s season wasn’t the finest, he was a pillar of stability for an offensive line that was beset by ailments. According to Pro Football Focus, he has only allowed three sacks this season on 665 pass blocking repetitions.
Bitonio was sidelined in Week 6 after getting arthroscopic knee surgery and didn’t participate in the season finale as the Browns rested their key starters in the final regular season game. Despite having to leave the Browns vs. Texans Wild Card game due to an injured knee and ankle, he astonished many of his teammates by returning a few snaps later to help his team win.
