Due to his recent red card and Joe Rodon’s overall performance levels in practice, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke spoke with the defender.
Since joining Leeds on loan from Tottenham on August 10th, the Wales international has started six of Leeds’ ten Championship contests.
Rodon received a red card against Hull City two weeks prior and was consequently omitted from the starting lineup for the 3-1 loss at Southampton on Saturday, September 30.
In the 1-0 victory over QPR on Wednesday [4 October], the defender made an impression on his return to the lineup, but Farke still wants to see more from him at Thorp Arch.
According to Leeds Live [5 October], Farke stated, “I was, overall, pleased with him because he was involved in many good results and many clean sheets.”
Not every previous game was flawless in every way. The red card, for instance, wasn’t necessary.
“I also spoke with him because I think he can do better on the practice field. We had a conversation about it, and in recent days, he has delivered.
For that reason, it was time to give him another shot, and, indeed, he played quite well.
In a row, six
Leeds was reduced to 10 men for 30 minutes against Hull as a result of Rodon’s two cautions and subsequent red card in a game that had no goals.
The 25-year-old was penalized by Farke for starting Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk in place of him against Southampton.
Nevertheless, Rodon benefited from Leeds’ crushing defeat at St. Mary’s when he was called up to the starting lineup for QPR in lieu of Cooper, who was benched.
Amazingly, Rodon has now contributed to six straight shutouts for club and nation dating back to the beginning of September.
Rodon may not have given his all during training, but despite his moment of insanity at Hull, he has been working hard when it matters.
Farke, the manager of United, is undoubtedly difficult to please, and the team’s performance so far suggests that this strategy is effective.
