Anthony Williams commits to Texas on January 1. The Longhorns added players to their 2025 class on January 1 because it’s never too early to do so. Anthony Williams, a three-star linebacker in the 2025 class, declared his commitment to Texas.
He is ranked No. 45 among linebackers, No. 66 in the state of Texas, and No. 431 in the nation by 247Sports.
Williams has set an official visit with the Longhorns in January ahead of his final February decision.
After his reclassification, Williams ranks as the No. 12 overall player in the country and the No. 4 wide receiver.
He will also visit Auburn and Alabama in January, with the Texas visit coming in between the two Alabama schools
After receiving strong performances on Monday from safeties Xavier Filsaime and Andrew Mukuba, the Texas Longhorns have surged to the No. 2 spot on Rivals’ Comprehensive Team Rankings, which include high school and transfer portal recruiting.
Texas is ranked among the top five recruits by On3, making it coach Steve Sarkisian’s and the Longhorns’ third consecutive top-five class.
According to an expert prediction made by On3’s Corey Bender, a Florida recruiting analyst, the Longhorns will defeat the 2024 five-star McKinney, Texas, safety Xavier Filsaime from the Florida Gators during what has been a busy recruiting month for coach Steve Sarkisian and staff as they also get ready for the College Football Playoff.
Regarding safety, Filsaime is ranked second in the recruiting class of 2024. Kobe Black, a safety from Connally (Waco, Texas), who is ranked as the fourth best in the state, recently committed to the Longhorns on Wednesday.
On November 21, Filsaime paid an unofficial visit to Austin. He is scheduled to return to Forty Acres this Friday, November 21, for an official visit. He made his first commitment on April 1 to Florida.
On Wednesday, four-star defensive back Kobe Black from Connally (Waco, TX) committed to the Texas Longhorns, extending their recent recruiting hot streak.
According to On3’s industry ranking, Black is currently Texas’ highest-rated defensive back commit in the 2024 class. He is ranked as the No. 4 cornerback in the nation, the No. 44 player nationwide, and the No. 10 player in the state of Texas.
The Longhorns are currently ranked No. 6 in the nation according to On3, No. 3 according to Rivals.com, and No. 6 according to 247Sports. Black has consequently shot the team to the top of all national team rankings.
The Longhorns are far from finished either, as they still have a number of elite players available, including DeAndre Carter, five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley, five-star safety Xavier Filsaime, four-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith, and four-star defensive lineman Solomon Williams.
