WWE’s Becky Lynch Injured; Raw Title Match Postponed
The news that The Man couldn’t compete because of her battle with Tiffany Stratton over the weekend had to upset those watching WWE Monday Night Raw in hopes of seeing Becky Lynch defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Tegan Nox.
At NXT No Mercy, Lynch and Stratton squared off again, with the former champion failing to successfully defend her title in an Extreme Rules contest. According to Fightful Select, Becky suffered a laceration during the fight that needed 11 stitches to close. Lynch was unable to obtain a medical exemption for Raw.
Nox showed up in the crowd at No Mercy to watch the main event and engage Lynch in a courteous staredown after she won, setting up Monday’s scheduled title defense.
Instead, Tegan was spotted debating the change in strategy backstage in WWE official Adam Pearce’s office when Chelsea Green entered. She spoke a little louder than she should have and talked her way into a singles match against Nox, which the Welsh Firecracker quickly won.
Lynch and Nox’s women’s title battle was revealed to be taking place on next week’s episode of Raw later in the program.
It’s interesting to note that the Nox/Lynch title fight that was supposed to air on Raw has been scrapped twice. She was originally supposed to respond to Becky’s open challenge two weeks ago, but that was altered at the last minute to Natalya.
Nox hadn’t competed in a singles match on either of the major programs since March prior to Monday’s bout and her triumph over Natalya on Raw last week. According to reports, Becky’s desire to collaborate with and uplift other superstars is a factor in the revived effort.
