In the last regular season game of the year, the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers will square off for a shot at the postseason. Due to an injury incurred last Sunday, Christian McCaffrey will miss this game. The players Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan eventually choose to bench and the degree to which each club is serious about winning this game will be intriguing to see. Whether the 49ers win or lose their upcoming game won’t really matter because they already have the top NFC seed secured.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday that running back Christian McCaffrey would miss San Francisco’s regular-season finale against the Rams on Sunday because of a slight calf injury. Shanahan continued, saying he’s “absolutely confident” McCaffrey will be ready for the team’s NFC Divisional Round postseason start.
After suffering the injury during San Francisco’s victory against Washington in Week 17, McCaffrey was sidelined for the remainder of the match out of caution.
