DING AND LISOWSKI ROCKED IT!
In Sheffield on Tuesday, the world number 75 Zak Surety surprised everyone by defeating Jack Lisowski 5-3 in the BetVictor German Masters qualification round.
Essex custodian After making it to the last 32 of two ranking tournaments, Surety is having the finest season of his career thus far. After eliminating world number 16 Lisowski, he can now look forward to a trip to Berlin’s renowned Tempodrom arena in the new year. Surety crossed the finish line first with to breaks of 83, 60, 71, and 61.
The 2014 champion Ding Junhui fell 5-2 to Yuan Sijun in the first round, resulting in his own elimination. Yuan was down a frame for being late returning to the table after trailing 3-1 at the break. However, he scored 102 in the sixth session and sealed the victory in the seventh.
Kyren Wilson, the winner of the award in 2019, defeated Oliver Lines 5-3 with a high score of 131. He Guoqiang of China kept up his stellar rookie campaign, defeating John Astley 5–4 in the final with a run of 111.
Robert Milkins defeated Allan Taylor 5–4 in the final, rallying from a 31-0 deficit. Matthew Selt defeated Dylan Emery 5–4, too, with a 76 in the last set.
