“Its a 300m deal : Mohamed Salah to Tottenham
Al-Ittihad has been informed that Liverpool will not allow Mohamed Salah to leave this week unless they receive an astounding £300 million proposal.
That’s what Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider on the importance of Salah to Liverpool both on and off the field, thinks.
On deadline day, the Merseyside club turned down a £150 million approach for Salah from Al Ittihad, a Saudi company, according to Sky Sports.
The Egyptian sensation is Al Ittihad’s next big target to sign with the Saudi Pro League, but Liverpool has turned them down thus far.
With just two years left on his deal, Salah, 31, is not willing to leave Liverpool, even with a sizable offer on the table.
Maguire clarified that because the 2024–25 competition is implementing a new, more lucrative format, Liverpool’s primary goal this year would be to qualify for the Champions League.
“The reason for that is because we’re moving to the new Swiss model in 2024/25 which means that clubs are guaranteed a minimum of an extra two matches.
“If you finish in positions nine to 24 in the new league table it will be an extra four matches because there will be an additional knockout phase.
“So if you factor in those figures, winning the Champions League could be worth somewhere in the region of £200million in a single season.
“So I think Liverpool will have taken a look at this and realised that two years of Salah staying potentially could be worth more to them than the £150m offered by Saudi Arabia.
“On top of that, he’s very popular with commercial partners and sponsors.
