Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to let go of Ivan Perisic for free during the January transfer window.
Ivan Perisic’s contract with Tottenham may be terminated, according to a SportsKe report, and he may be allowed to leave as a free agent in January. Although Hajduk Split is interested in the versatile wide player, it is unclear whether they will be able to close the transaction.
Under Antonio Conte, Perisic joined Tottenham on a free transfer and has shown to be a valuable asset for the North London club. The Croatian international contributed 12 assists last season across all competitions while playing for the Premier League club as both a winger and a wing-back.
Last season, Tottenham benefited from his versatility and excellent level of performance as a squad player. However, it appears that the North London business is now willing to let him go.
When the season is through, he will be a free agent, and the Spurs are willing to rip up his contract and let him walk in the middle of the season. At this point in his career, Perisic might find it perfect to return to his own country, and he might be drawn to the prospect of playing for Hajduk Split.
Tottenham already has enough full-back depth, so Perisic will have a difficult time getting regular playing time during the season. He should continue on and join a team where he will play frequently. It’s interesting to note that Hajduk Split wanted to sign him last summer.
Manager Ange Postecoglou will want to develop the talented young players at his disposal rather than giving opportunities to Perisic because Tottenham already have players like Destiny Udogie and Ryan Sessegnon for the left-back slot. Udogie has been quite impressive in the Premier League thus far, establishing himself as Tottenham’s first-choice left back.
An end in January would therefore be ideal for all parties.Tottenham would benefit by saving his pay, and the player would be free to play regularly for another team.Spurs are expecting to finish in the Champions League spots after a strong start to their Premier League season.
