‘I wouldn’t have believed you’: James Maddison says one thing has really surprised him since joining Tottenham
James Maddison has now acknowledged that he was taken aback by how swiftly he was selected as Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League player of the month.
Maddison spoke with Viaplay following yesterday’s North London derby.
Maddison acknowledged his own skill and showed confidence in it, but he also gave a lot of credit to those around him.
“The people at the club are brilliant; they have made me feel right at home,” Maddison remarked.
“Being the person and character that I am, who is pretty assured and full of self-belief, I didn’t have any reservations about entering.
If you had told me I would win Premier League player of the month in my first month, I wouldn’t have believed you. It probably happened even faster than I anticipated.
But I can only express myself and be the kind of player and person I am thanks to my teammates.
Of course, Maddison’s quick start at Tottenham is also largely down to Ange Postecoglou, who deserves enormous praise.
