Following a visit to Texas Tech, he chose the Red Raiders over offers from the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers.
Groves had an outstanding senior season, averaging 34.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. Notably, he scored 44 points in a state tournament victory against DeLaSalle, showcasing his scoring prowess and leadership on the court .
