With Yet Another Stupid Bounce Pass, Caitlin Clark Sparks Electric Fever Fast Break.
Kelsey Mitchell received the assist in basketball from behind the back, while Clark received the assist in hockey.
On Sunday afternoon, the Indiana Fever traveled to Texas to play the Dallas Wings. Even though Caitlin Clark missed her first four shots, she still had an impact on the game’s pace as the Fever moved the ball up the court with each possession.
In the opening quarter, Clark pulled down a rebound, dribbled three times, and then sent Kelsey Mitchell a three-quarter court bounce pass. After Mitchell caught the ball, she instantly bounced it to NaLyssa Smith, who made the layup, behind her back.
Clark’s stat sheet won’t reflect this, but every Fever possession is exciting because of her eagerness to dish out absurd passes to teammates sprinting in the direction of the basket. She leads the WNBA in turnovers in part because of that, but when you get moments like this, it’s all worthwhile.
Clark will have an opportunity to break the WNBA record most assists in a season with seven games left after Sunday. As of Sunday morning, she needed to match Alyssa Thomas’s record of 316 assists in the following few weeks by averaging 6.5 assists per game.
